Why can't I set my own choice of password?
Security specialists have observed that many people use the same password for multiple sites. If a user's password is compromised at one site, then all of the sites that use that same password could be compromised.
We include your password in embedded links in your email newsletter. That makes it easy for you to click on a link and be logged in to the newsletter web site. However, if you share an issue of newsletter with a colleague, they could dig into the HTML code and find your password.
By requiring a unique, computer generated password for our site, we limit the consequences of an accidental disclosure of your password.
